I've been known to mix different chocolatey shades to make monochrome brown outfits. Well, this one has a purpose! This is an homage to Girl Scouts.
As you may or may not have heard, the Girl Scouts of the Colorado recently allowed a 7-year-old transgender child into a Girl Scout troop, and this didn't bode well with some other, perhaps less tolerant Girl Scouts, who decided to boycott buying and selling girl scout cookies in protest. The Girl Scouts of Colorado released a statement saying,
"Girl Scouts is an inclusive organization and we accept all girls in
Kindergarten through
12th grade as members. If a
child identifies as a girl and the child's family presents her
as a girl, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her as a Girl Scout."
As a former Girl Scout and lover of girl scout cookies, I must say, I'm proud. I know you were desperately searching for a reason to justify purchasing and devouring as many delicious thin mints and somoas and tagalongs as possible this year. Here's your justification. Join the counter-boycott. Buy Girl Scout cookies. Eat them. Get fat. Be happy.

i didn't hear about the girl scouts. i'm glad that they are standing by their motto of being accepting. hmmm i'd love some thin mints right now. you def embody the girl scout spirit in this getup and the abandoned house looks interesting too.
ReplyDeleteI read about this too and was so glad that the girl scouts reacted the way they did! I guess there will always be detractors, but it seems like they are in the minority...
ReplyDeleteSend the girl scouts to me. I've gained a lot lately anyway so a couple of more kg might not even be noticed:P haha
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely by the way and your blog is amazing! Always an inspiration:)
Änglamark.
You look adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd the girl scout's are doing good things, that's for sure!

LOVE that you made a post about this, I saw that video and wanted to buy ten million boxes! MMM samosa and tagalongs. You make quite the adorable girl scout :)
ReplyDeletePeople are so ignorant. I applaud Colorado's stance on allowing the girl to join their troop. It teaches young girls that there are all types of people in the world and really, we're not all that different. I wonder how many of those ignorant parents read Middlesex (since it was in Oprah's book club its quite mainstream now) and have since forgotten all the points the writer was trying to make with that book. Anywho....cute outfit!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that Girl Scouts is so accepting, I have been following this story too. This makes me wish I still had my Brownie jumper!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great honorable post, I can't believe some people would be so completely rude and cruel about a 7 year old child. The outfit is just the perfect mix of gradients too. Well done for standing up for something you believe in!
ReplyDeletemakes me so sad that there are people out there that are so mean to a 7 year old. :(
ReplyDeletei love me some girl scot cookies.. drooooooooling.
i have been know to eat a whole pack of thin mints in one afternoon.
beautiful picture as always. <333
Amazing pics! I love this to pieces you are amazing :)
ReplyDeleteLove this look, it's really cute!
ReplyDeletei was never a girl scout, but i envied those who were....and i'm glad to hear that story!
ReplyDeleteI was in girl scouts but mine wasnt as progressive...i got picked on everyday for being a nerd...or being black...depended on the troop...sheesh..
ReplyDeleteyou look adorbs! I love monochrome looks
Such an adorable outfit! Lovin' the hat, too! I need to wear more hats. And hooray for the Colorado Girl Scouts! Hopefully there will be more to follow!!!
ReplyDeleteI love jumpers! and I love how the burgundy brings out the green in your eyes so much! pretty pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely proud of the girl scouts for sticking up for that girl!
ReplyDeleteAnd I enjoy your homage to girl scouts outfit. The jumper is fantastic!
