Well that was fast!

I'm back! I took a hiatus because I was job-searching and didn't want employers to find my blog. Well, it ended up being a brief hiatus because I've secured two contract positions for the next 5 months, so I'm good for the time being! I'm going to have keep looking for a full-time job, but it's good to have some (slight) security for little while.

I'm actually fairly excited about one of the positions, because it combines all of my interests/background fields-- health, cultural competency, women's empowerment, and French. (yes, French! I actually finally get to speak/use my french in a productive way. And here I thought I was doomed in human services fields because I never took Spanish).

I won't be making tons of $cashmoneycurrency$ between the two positions, but I don't even care at this point. At least I'm moving forward in some capacity.

This outfit is a horrendous explosion of pastels; I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT.

HIATUS

The Volvo

So, I'm going to have to take an indeterminate hiatus from this blog.

I'm finishing graduate school this May [and will soon have my MPH!], and I'm applying to a LOT of jobs. 100% of the jobs I will be applying to are 100% NOT related to clothing or art in ANY WAY, and so I'm going to need to make this blog private while I'm applying, lest an employer googles my name and finds this strange website full of pictures of me wearing big shirts and weird pants, etc.

"Is that the job applicant?"
"Why is she wearing such big shirts and weird pants???"
"UNSUITABLE FOR THE JOB."

This is how it plays out in my head. So my blog will be private for a little while, starting around next week. I'll still keep up my  tumblr/twitter/pinterest/etc. though.  Hopefully I'll get a job in the next month or so (please god oh please holy shit please how do I pay my rent), so it won't be long. And when I return, I will be full of good news! (or else I will have given up and will be blog-sobbing ice cream and dorito tears)

SEE YA (soon)

young frankk s/s13

I've always loved Young Frankk jewelry since I first saw the etsy shop in 2011. I was especially excited when I saw the s/s13 lookbook float across my Pinterest feed because a sheer silver CK top from my etsy shop was used in the lookbook! So I decided I definitely had to talk about Young Frankk here.

Christine Young, a Richmond-based jewelry designer and Parsons graduate, hand-crafts each of these trigonometric pieces from structured materials, mainly brass and copper. The jewelry epitomizes minimalism. It's clean and bold, and evokes a kind of organic clarity that can only come from the kinds of designs that are restrained and methodical, but also very expressive.

Check out Young Frankk jewelry here or here, or visit the Young Frankk blog (or pinterest or facebook).
